Introducing Hannah Morgan

Hannah first started with A Beautiful Occasion over 2 years ago as a casual event assistant, helping us with the set up and pack down of events.  The employment process was through and in-depth with the HR department being involved throughout the whole progression … ha!  Like most small businesses, the introduction came from a friend of a friend, who knew both Hannah and A Beautiful Occasion. So we had a chat about our business, growth, the needs to do what we wanted to take our business to the next level and overall dreams, and decided that the 2am finishes, going home for some sleep, then 6am starts to get the weekends weddings executed were starting to take a toll on us and our families, so we thought ‘let’s give her a go and see what happens’. Hannah started casually, working hard to prove herself, and not long after she started, she was here most weekends and we were ecstatic with how she was working and fitting into our business.

After 12 months of working with A Beautiful Occasion, Hannah decided that she needed formalised training, so enrolled in TAFE to complete her Certificate III in Floristry at the Kurri Kurri campus.  Her skills learnt in the classroom soon became aware to Amy (a florist herself) and knew that Hannah had made the right decision to obtain her certificate.  We both are true believers that the foundations of learning are the formalised skills you learn in the classroom, but there is no better learning place than getting in and using your hands to further those skills.

Since Hannah has started, she has seen our business grow, to now not only employing her on a permanent part time (soon to be full time) basis, but also other part time and casual team members, always while under our watchful eye.

Hannah’s favourite part of working for A Beautiful Occasion is how different every day can be, she gets to be creative and loves all the team members (especially Michelle).  She loves seeing a wedding or event start as an enquiry, then through the back of house processes like quoting, ordering flowers, prepping and packing the wedding, to the set up and seeing the final product. 

We love having Hannah on the team as they know that they can ask her to do a task and she does it to the standard that we expect, which is always high!

Favourite part of a wedding? Seeing the bouquets come together

What do you love most about weddings in Port Stephens? Diversity of locations

Why do you love working with A Beautiful Occasion? Because it’s a fun and happy place to work … and we’re cool and hip and happening.

You’re on a deserted island and you’re allowed to take three things, what are they and why?

1.       Lifetime supply of water as I can live off that for a long time
